Guy is a humanitarian, freelance and commercial photographer, writer, and educator from Oregon in the United States. Guy was recently honored as the recipient of the 2018 U.S. Artist Grant.
Guy's media production career began in American public television, and developed as he discovered the power of video advocacy while volunteering at the Namgyal Monastery in Dharamsala, India, teaching the monks there to shoot, edit, and preserve the teachings of the Dalai Lama of Tibet. Guy later taught photography and filmmaking, serving on the Higher Colleges of Technology, at the Dubai Men’s campus faculty from 2007-2013. Many of Guy’s former students now form the backbone of the country’s media and film production industries and have won numerous national and international awards. In recognition of his contributions, Guy was honored with the prestigious national Nikai Award for Excellence and Innovation in Education in 2012.
Guy currently works as a freelance photographer and media producer, offering digital media strategies to help businesses, communities, and organizations share their authentic narratives with the world. He is also the founder of Handheld Stories and DocumentaryWorkshops.com.
